Minister to Children & Youth

Brad Hudson

What does your ministry involve?
I serve as the Youth Minister here at FBC.  I coordinate all youth related activities and I have the pleasure of disciplining students alongside their parents.

What is your passion / goal for your ministry?
My passion is for teenagers to fall desperately in love with the Lord Jesus.  So my primary goal is to facilitate, encourage, nurture, or support the spiritual growth of the students that God puts under my leadership.

How long have you been at Bamberg FBC?
The church called me to First Baptist in April 2011.

What attracted you to Bamberg FBC?
The first thing that led me to Bamberg was the calling of the Holy Spirit.  I did not have a clue where Bamberg was.  Before the church contacted me I did not know the place existed.  After the first interview with the search committee I had no hesitation that Bamberg FBC was the place for me.  I felt totally comfortable with the folks that I met with and the church family immediately felt like home.

Tell us a little about your family?
I am currently single and I am in the market!!!  I have one cat named Belle which I adopted from my grandma.

What is your preparation and background for ministry?
I was not brought up attending church regularly and did not experience the power of God in my life until April of 2001.  My gym teacher at my high school invited me to church several times and I declined, until eventually I gave in to her persistence.  Her husband was the youth minister at Chestnut Ridge Church and He led me to the Lord after a youth revival.  There were two very important women in my life that pushed and nurtured me to be a fully devoted follower of Jesus.  With the investment that they put into my life it opened doors to different ministries and eventually to my call into ministry.  The Holy Spirit called me into ministry as I was volunteering as a youth director during my college years.  I was very hesitant for a year to answer the call because I was burned out from college and I was not interested in getting more education.  None the less, the battle was over when God made the confirmation very evident through a sequence of events.  I was licensed and ordained at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.

I am a graduate of the following schools:

Masters of Divinity in Christian Ministry,
Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC May 2010

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Minor in Sociology,
Coker College, Hartsville, SC May 2006

What do you enjoy doing outside of church?
I enjoy watching football, especially the Clemson Tigers!!!!  I also love NASCAR.  I also like the school little kids in basketball just for fun.  I enjoy a coffee house scene, but Bamberg or Orangeburg does not offer one so that has been missing from my life the last two years.
